In today’s post, I just want to ask you “Does Your Business Really Need a Flash Website? If your answer is yes, then please think again.”
As a web marketing consultant, nearly everyday I was keep on receivng the same questions like ‘I need a flash website and can you do it for me?’ and I feel really bad for these business owners because they really don’t have the idea that how far a flash website can harm their business.
Before I go indepth with today’s post, let me clarify that I have nothing personal against flash website. In reality I love flash websites and in my early days, I even learnt how to create a flash website and I was so keen in creating beautifully designed flash websites for my clients until I learned the truth.
So, what was the truth? As I mentioned in my earlier post ‘real purpose of your business website’, by now you would have known that your business website have to bring you more customers. Moreover , the more your site is search engine friendly, the more potential customers you can get by using Search Engines free traffic.
There are several ways get the targeted traffic from search engines to your website. One of my favourite way is by providing unique content on your website regarding your business and the information which is needed by your potential customer to buy your services/goods from you. Usually search engines will index your site by crawling your site. In another words, they will actually read word by word of your website content. However, search engines can’t read an image or any other text that is lies on top of an image.
Usually a flash website is made by images and on top of the images, the text of the website will be. In another terms, search engines can’t read the text of your website if it is a flash website. So, what will be the consequences if the search engines can’t read your site’s content?
Since search engines can’t read it, usually they won’t index your site. That means, whenever a customer search for your service, your site won’t be shown in the search engine results. Can you imagine how many potential customers you could be losing if you would like to have a wholly designed flash website as your business website?
Always remember that Internet is a like a big jungle where millions and millions of websites are out there for people to check out. If you’re having a flash website, it’s like having a beautifully designed showroom in the middle of jungle. Please tell me any customer will be willing to come to your showroom if it is a middle of the jungle? Can you get my point here? People always want to access everything easily so don’t expect them to take all the trouble just to find your site in this Internet jungle.
There is nothing wrong incorporating flash elements within your site. Yes, in certain part of your website, you can add little bit of flash elements. This is also to attract your potential customer to do the business with you not to show off any fancy things on your website. Your business website is crucial for your business’s growth. Most of the time I’ll be getting the same reply that is ‘well, I really don’t know and I’m just having it because every tom and harry in the street is having their very own business website’.
As a business owner if this is the same reply you’re going to give to my question, then I really feel very sorry for you. Yes, before you even start having your first business website the very first thing you need to understand is you’re having your business website because you want to get more customers for your business via Internet.
So what’s the point if you have a website that is not doing anything for your business growth. It is completely waste of time, effort and money. Next you must have atleast 5-7 promo emails that already have set up in your autoresponder so that each of the promo email will reach your email list subscribers on every 2-3days time. To do this, you need to have someone who can really write high converting email templates that you can use for your business. You can do this by all yourself. But a real smart marketer will outsource this entire task to someone else so that he or she can profit more from this smart marketing method.
